Produced, written and directed by Jean-François Laguionie, the film will tell the story of an old woman who misses her train and is forced to stay in a deserted seaside resort during the dying days of summer. And thus begins a strange year for her, made up of memories, dreams, solitude and canine companionship.

A joint effort between French outfits JPL Films and Tchack, and Canada’s Unité Centrale, Louise en hiver will be a 2D, hand-painted, animated movie and will be the sixth feature by the talented filmmaker (who won the Short Film Palme d’Or in 1978 with Rowing Across the Atlantic), following titles such as A Monkey’s Tale (1999), L’Ile de Black Mór (2004) and Le Tableau [+see also:

For the record, Arte France Cinéma is supporting the upcoming films by Bruno Dumont, Miguel Gomes, Nanni Moretti, Andreas Dresen, Joachim Trier, Corneliu Porumboiu, Sergeï Loznitsa, Philippe Garrel, Philippe Faucon, Stéphane Brizé, Paul Verhoeven, Alessandro Comodin, Mehmet Can Mertoglu, Whit Stillman, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Samuel Maoz, Neeraj Ghaywan, Nicolas Pariser, Mikhaël Hers, and the Delphine sisters and Muriel Coulin, among others.
