A film festival and, simultaneously, a training event, FEST – New Directors | New Films is currently wrapping the preparations for its 11th edition, scheduled for 22-29 June in the Portuguese coastal town of Espinho.

While the film line-up – which includes seven sections, the main one being exclusively focused on first and second features – is to be unveiled shortly, the festival has already announced the list of participants in its parallel training events, the FEST Training Ground and the FEST Pitching Forum.

The FEST Training Ground, a mix of master classes and workshops spread over the festival dates, sees the participation of, among others, Oscar-winning Spanish director Fernando Trueba (Chico & Rita [+see also:

), British costume designer Steven Noble (The Theory of Everything [+see also:

), Peter Doyle (supervising colourist on The Lord of the Rings) and Eddy Joseph (supervising sound editor on Quantum of Solace [+see also:

Designed as a platform that enables upcoming filmmakers to present their projects to top industry producers, financiers and investors, the FEST Pitching Forum is inviting the 28 selected scriptwriters, writer-directors and producers to participate in a three-day training programme, managed by experts. This year’s experts include producers Gareth Wiley, Cynthia HargravePaul Miller and Camille McCurry. Last-minute candidates can apply here (the deadline has been extended to 20 May).
