Underwater thriller 47 Meters Down will be the first film to utilise the horizon water tank at the Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios as it begins principal photography this summer. Written by Johannes Roberts (Storage 24 [+see also:

) and Ernest Riera (The Other Side of the Door) and directed by Roberts, the film follows two fun loving sisters whose diving vacation goes horribly wrong and they find themselves at the bottom of the shark infested ocean 47 meters down with less than an hour of oxygen left. Mandy Moore (television’s High School USA!) and Claire Holt (television’s Aquarius) star.

James Harris and Mark Lane of The Tea Shop & Film Company (UK) are producing and eOne will distribute in the UK and TWC-Dimension in North America.  The film is co-financed by The Fyzz Facility (UK) and Lantica Media (Dominican Republic). Altitude Film Sales is handling international sales. Lantica CEO Antonio Gennari said, “We are extremely pleased that James and Mark have chosen Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios as the location for their latest production. They’ll have access to the most sophisticated water production capabilities currently available.  We look forward to helping them make the most of their experience.”

Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios has eight acres of water effects facilities including a 60,500 sq. ft. water tank with ocean horizons, blue screen capacity, a diving and marine department, plus an additional 50,000 sq. ft. of sound stage space, 50,000 sq. ft. of associated production support facilities and 40,000 sq. ft. of tenant space across a 35 acre site with access to tropical filming locations.
