, the fifth feature film by Dominique Cabrera, has been in full swing in Marseille since 13 September. Having risen to fame with The Other Shore (unveiled at Cannes in 1997 in the Cinémas en France section, and nominated for the César Award for Best Debut Film in 1998) before going on to make Nadia and the Hippos (also selected on the Croisette, in Un Certain Regard in 1999), The Milk of Human Kindness (in competition at Locarno in 2001) and Folle embellie (presented in the Berlinale Forum in 2004), the filmmaker is now making a return to fiction film after two TV movies and two documentaries. She is devoting her comeback to the adaptation of a novel by Maylis de Kerangal, a successful writer who is very much in fashion in French cinema, as Katell Quillévéré is currently shooting Réparer les vivants [+see also:

), and young actors Kamel Kadri and Alain Demaria.

The story, which unfolds over a single summer, is centred on a group of teenagers at a loose end, who defy the laws of gravity by plunging into the water off the entire length of the Corniche Kennedy seaside roadway. A police chief, tasked with keeping an eye on this stretch of the coastline, observes them from behind her binoculars. The kids are caught between a zero-tolerance policy and their taste for the forbidden, and things are about to go awry…

Produced by Gaëlle Bayssières and Didier Creste (a distinguished duo owing to the Daniel Toscan du Plantier Award for Best Producer of the Year that they won in 2012) for Everybody on Deck, Corniche Kennedy has been pre-purchased by Canal+ and is benefiting from backing from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The film, the shoot for which will wrap on 23 October (with Isabelle Razavet serving as DoP), should be ready next spring. Distribution in France and international sales will be handled by Jour2Fête.

In September, Everybody on Deck also completed the shoot for Polina [+see also:
