Six feature-debut projects have been accepted during the fourth 2015 session of the CNC’s first advance on receipts committee. Standing out among them is If You Saw His Heart [+see also:

Described to Cineuropa as “a very dark, even quite violent, film” by its producer, Pierre Guyard (of Nord-Ouest Films – a European Film Promotion Producer on the Move 2015 – read the interview), the feature (boasting a screenplay written by the director herself) will revolve around a Gypsy shut out by his community following the death of his best friend, who then finds a shoulder to cry on in the guise of a young woman. For the record, Chemla directed the short films The Man with the Golden Brain (which also starred Marine Vacth), Dr Nazi (in competition at Clermont-Ferrand in 2011) and Mauvaise route

The CNC will also be backing the feature debuts by three other directors: Freaking by Julia Ducourneau (read the article – produced by Jean des Forêts for Petit Film), Après la guerre by Annarita Zambrano (produced by Stéphanie Douet for Sensito Films – a project that turned heads in the 2015 Alliance For Development selection – read the news) and Pearl by Elsa Amiel (staged by Bruno Nahon for Unité de production and picked out last year in the German-French Film Meeting co-production market), which should begin principal photography in the winter and will portray the misfortunes of a female bodybuilding champion.
