Damjan Kozole’s Half-Sister wins the Eurimages Award at CineLink

At the CineLink Industry Days, the Sarajevo Film Festival's industry section, the CineLink Co-Production Market jury (comprising Uldis DimisevskisGeorges GoldensternBehrooz HashemianČedomir KolarAnnamaria LodatoTomi Salkovski and Jani Thiltges) has decided to honour Slovenian filmmaker Damjan Kozole’s new project, Half-Sister, the follow-up to his 2016 Karlovy Vary entry, Nightlife [+see also:

, with the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award (worth €20,000).

The project, developed through production company Vertigo, tells the story of two estranged sisters who are, after 25 years of barely seeing each other, forced by circumstances to share an apartment.

The Macedonian Film Agency Award, worth €10,000, went to the Greek project Holy Emy by director and co-writer Araceli Lemos. The project is set in the Catholic Filipino community in Piraeus, where 22-year-old Emy suffers from a strange, supernatural condition: she cries blood. The producer of the film, Konstantinos Vassilaros, also received the MDM Scholarship. 

The Arte International Relations Award and €6,000 went to the Bulgarian-UK project Cat in the Wall by Mina Mileva and Vesela Kazakova (The Beast Is Still Alive [+see also:

), in which a lost cat acts as a pretext for unfolding a social drama on a housing estate in London.

Serbian director Slobodan Šijan’s The Great Tram Robbery (read more) won a Special Mention. The return of one of the greatest filmmakers from the Yugoslav era attracted a lot of interest, and the co-production between Marko Paljić of Serbia's Gargantua FilmsDamir Terešak of Croatia's Maxima FilmSrdjan Šarenac of Bosnia's Novi Film, and Boštjan Virc of Slovenia's Studio Virc already has financing from the Film Center Serbia and the Croatian Audiovisual Centre.

The Film Center Serbia CineLink Drama Award, worth €10,000, went to All Panthers Are Pink by creators and producers Miroslav Mogorović of Serbia's Art&Popcorn and Titus Kreyenberg of Germany's Unafilm. The story by writer Dimitrije Vojnov (The Samurai in Autumn [+see also:

, Little Buddho) is based on the legendary gang of jewel thieves originating from the region of the former Yugoslavia, who operated internationally and never really ceased their activities. 

A Special Mention went to Glycerin by Serbian tandem Miloš Pušić (Withering [+see also:

) and Ivan Knežević, who is also making one of the first two original HBO Adria series, Island. The urban comedy, set in Serbia's second-largest city, Novi Sad, has a fun logline: a way-past-his-prime small-town punk rocker decides to get his old band back together, to the excitement of absolutely no one.
