Isabelle Huppert and Sandrine Kiberlain in Tip Top

12/04/2012 - From the first half of May, the cameras will be rolling for Serge Bozon’s second feature film, Franco-Belgian co-production Tip Top. Revealed with La France [trailer], which won the Prix Jean Vigo for the best French debut film and was selected for the 2007 Directors’ Fortnight, the film director this time will take on a police comedy featuring Isabelle Huppert (photo - at the last Berlinale in Captive [trailer, film focus] and soon to appear in Amour by Michael Haneke and In Another Country by Hong Sang-soo), Sandrine Kiberlain (The Women on the 6th Floor [trailer], Polisse [trailer, film focus]), the Belgian François Damiens (Heartbreaker [trailer], Delicacy [trailer]), Saida Bekkouche, Aymen Saïdi, and François Negret.

Written by Serge Bozon, Axelle Ropert and Odile Barski and adapted from the novel Tip Top by British author Bill James (also know as David Craig), the screenplay follows two female police inspectors from the police’s complaints and discipline branch: Esther Lafarge (Huppert) assisted by Sally Marinelli (Kiberlain). After an informer called Farid Benamar dies, they are sent to a provincial police station to investigate a possible case of corruption. At work, they are intransigent and dedicated. But their private lives are very different: Esther hits her husband, while Sally checks out men! Newly welcomed by the local police and with Benamar’s reporting officer Robert Mendès (Damiens) spying on them, they set out to shed light on this murder, all the while dealing with their private lives... somewhat against police ethics.

Produced by David Thion for Les Films Pelléas, Tip Top benefits from co-production with the Belgian and Luxemburg subsidiaries of the Iris group, of pre-sales to Canal+ and Ciné+, as well as the support of Soficinéma and Cinémage. Filming will last seven to eight weeks in Belgium and in Luxemburg. Rezo will be in charge of distribution in France and international sales.
