by Fabien Lemercier
05/06/2012 - A week ago Jérôme Bonnell (photo - 34 years old) started filming his fifth feature film: Le Temps de l’aventure (lit. “A time for adventure”). After Le chignon d’Olga (in the competition at Rotterdam in 2003), Les yeux clairs [film focus] (at the Forum of the 2005 Berlinale, winner of the Jean Vigo Prize), Waiting for Someone [trailer] (2007), and The Queen of Clubs [trailer] (2010), the director has this time chosen a love story to feature two famous performers: Irish actor Gabriel Byrne (Golden Globe for best actor in 2009 for the television series In Treatment and earlier this year on the set of Capital by Costa Gavras - news) and French actress Emmanuelle Devos (Cesar for best actress in 2002 for Read My Lips [trailer] and best supporting actress in 2010 for In the Beginning [trailer], and more recently member of the jury in Cannes).
Written by the director, the screenplay follows Alix who, between two performances of a play in Calais, meets a mysterious Englishman on the train bringing her back to Paris for the day. Attracted to him, she follows him and loves him for a few hours, before confronting what could be a new life...
Produced by Edouard Weil for Rectangle Productions, Le Temps de l’aventure is co-produced by France 3 Cinéma. Pre-acquired by Canal + and Ciné+, the film also has the support of Arte Cofinova. Shooting is set to continue until July 16 in and around Paris. Le Pacte is in charge of the film’s distribution in France as well as international sales.
