- The second installment of his Scenes from a Marriage will be produced by Italy's state broadcaster and Rai Fiction. The new film will be ready in April 2003

Rai Fiction announced it is to co-produce the long-awaited second part of Ingmar Bergman’s 1973 feature film, Scenes from a Marriage together with Sweden’s SVT network. The new film sees the return of Liv Ullmann and Erland Josephson and goes under the provisional title of Anna. The veteran Swedish director, 84, adapted his original 1973 film for television, also the chosen medium for Anna. Max Guberti, deputy head of Rai Fiction, said that the story would be about Marianne’s (Ullmann) return to her ex-husband (Josephson) only to find him embroiled in a messy power struggle with a son from a subsequent marriage. Anna is scheduled to be broadcast in April 2003 and only then will Bergman decide whether or not to release the film theatrically as well.
