Select TV goes into liquidation
Last week lawyers representing Luxemburg’s premiere digital pay-TV, SelectTV, declared the company bankrupt in the country’s Commercial Tribunal. SelectTv had been operational via cable and its own decoder called Mediamaster since November 2000, giving subscribers access to around forty channels including films, music, documentaries and travel, as well as a number of radio programmes. SelectTV aim was also to provide, video on-demand and access to the Internet and was created as a joint venture between American entrepreneur, Jeff Jackson (the Aurora Group), 3i, Dexia-BIL and the Grand Duchy’s telecommunications company PTT luxembourgeois. At the same time, three of the Aurora Group’s satellite company’s – Aurora Investment, Aurora Media Technologies and Aurora Media Services Luxemburg - also went into receivership with debts reported to be in the region of Euros1.3million.
