British actress Lucy Gordon found dead in Paris

by

British actress Lucy Gordon was found dead in her Paris flat on May 20, just two days before her 29th birthday. French police are treating the death as a suicide.

A Parisian detective said, “There were no suspicious circumstances. It appears that the young woman took her own life.” Gordon will soon be seen as Jane Birkin in Joann Sfar’s Serge Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life, trailers for which were presented at Cannes this week.

Sfar, along with the film’s producers Marc du Pontavice and Didier Lupfer said in a statement, “The film owes a lot to the generosity, gentleness and immense talent of Lucy Gordon.”

, Shekhar Kapur’s The Four Feathers and Sam Raimi’s Spider Man 3. She will also be seen in a leading role in Yann Moix’s Cineman.

Her father, Richard Gordon, said, “We have always been immensely proud of her and her achievements. We love her so much. She was called Lucy and she has lived up to that. She has been the light of our lives. She was a lovely, generous, unselfish person who gave her all for others and thought of others before herself.”

“She has been a natural actress all her life, since she was about two. She’s always loved being on stage and in front of the camera and she has kept all her naturalness and charm all the way through,” he added.

Parisian detectives will be interviewing close friends and family in order to establish a motive for Gordon’s death.
