Czech director Kirchnerová-Špidlován wins Cinéfondation

Presided by the UK’s John Boorman, the Cinéfondation jury at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival awarded its first prize to Czech film Baba by Zuzana Kirchnerová-Špidlová, a graduate of the renowned Famu Film School.

The second prize went to Goodbye by China’s Song Fang (Beijing Film Academy), while the third prize was jointly awarded to Diploma by Israel’s Yaelle Kayam (Sam Spiegel Film & TV School) and Don’t Step Out of the House by Korea’s Jo Sung-hee (Korean Academy of Film Arts). Moreover, numerous directors from previous Cinéfondation selections had their features presented this year in the different festival sections, including Romanian director Corneliu Porumboiu in the Un Certain Regard with Police, Adjective [+see also:
