120 companies in Cannes for CRC co-prod meetings
25/05/2009 - Over 120 international companies took part at Cannes in the 14th edition of CRC - Capital Regions for Cinema, a network of Film Commissions from the European regions Ile de France, Lazio, Comunidad de Madrid and Berlin-Brandenburg.
This year, CRC hosted a delegation of Scandinavian producers from all five Nordic countries.
Italian companies present included Mario Gianani’s Offside, behind Marco Bellocchio’s Cannes competition title Vincere [trailer, film focus]; DAP, leading producers in television fiction production who recently branched out into cinema; 3D animation company Gertie; La Sarraz, specialising in documentaries; Amedeo Pagani’s Classic; and L’Ottava, producers of the latest project by singer-director Franco Battiato.
The next edition of the CRC co-production meetings will be held at the San Sebastian Film Festival in September, and in October at the Rome International Film Festival, in collaboration with the festival’s market, The Business Street.
Other initiatives promoted at Cannes include the successful presentation of the project Atelier Farnese, from an idea by the French Embassy in Italy: the first Italian-French creative workshop of writing and screenwriting. The project is coordinated by Sviluppo Lazio SpA and promoted by the Lazio Region, the General Direction of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture, CNC, SACD and the Commission du Film de l’Ile de France, in collaboration with the Rome & Lazio Film Commission.
