TV drama takes theatres by storm

was deemed good enough for the big screen by distributor Walt Disney (Switzerland). Released at the end of March, the film by Micha Lewinsky is currently approaching 60,000 admissions in German-speaking theatres, outperforming last year’s biggest Swiss hit Bergauf, Bergab (53,000 viewers).

In 2004, Christoph Schaub’s TV drama Sternenberg also enjoyed immense box office success (125,000 admissions). But Bettina Oberli’s Late Bloomers [+see also:

is the record-holder for audience figures achieved by TV productions in cinemas (595,000 viewers).

Die Standesbeamtin is a hilarious romantic comedy centring on registrar Rahel Hubli (Marie Leuenberger), whose life is turned upside down by the sudden appearance of a boyfriend from her youth, Ben (Dominique Jann). Formerly members of the same rock band, they have been out of touch for many years. He returns from Berlin, where he works as a professional musician, while she is the married mother of a teenage son.
