Susanne Bier back home with Civilization

After her Hollywood-made Things We Lost in the Fire, Danish director Susanne Bier is returning home to direct Civilization (original title Hævnen) for Zentropa.

The drama takes place in Sudan’s refugee camps and in a little Danish provincial town. Two Danish families cross paths and an unusual and dangerous friendship develops. The films Swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt and Denmark's Trine Dyrholm and Ulrich Thomsen.

Shooting is starting within the next few days in Denmark and in Kenya. The €4m film produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen for Zentropa has just received a grant of DKK 7m (€950,000) from the Danish Film Institute. The domestic release is scheduled for August 27, 2010.
