Roy Andersson at the MoMa in New York

The prestigious Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York is organising from September 10-18, a retrospective dedicated to Swedish film master Roy Andersson.

will be on hand to introduce his four feature films A Swedish Love Story, Giliap, Songs from the Second Floor and You, the Living, as well as his student projects from the 1960s, commercials, and short films Something Happened and World of Glory. Johan Carlsson, documentary filmmaker of Tomorrow's Another Day, about the making of You, the Living will also be part of the retrospective, with Bo Widerberg's Ådalen Riots, on which Andersson worked as assistant director.

Released by Palisades Tartan in the US, You the Living is currently playing on around 25 screens in the US, carried by glowing reviews. Andersson is also currently in the news as an author. His book Our Time's Fear of Seriousness will noon be published by Studio 24 in a new and revised edition. It will be available from September 24 at the Göteborg Book Fair.
