Seven new Czech films on the way

Seven new Czech films are making their way to theatres in November.

Witness, from Slovak-born director Vlado Štancel, tells the story of a group of former classmates reuniting after 50 years. The story concerns the life of the elderly today, their relationships with their families and with society. SPI will release the film to theatres on November 5.

November 12 will see the release of two films: Hollywood Classic Entertainment will distribute thriller Eye in the Wall, directed by Miloš J. Kohout and starring Karel Roden (Little Girl Blue [+see also:

), Soňa Valentová, and German actors Catherine Flemming and Jürgen Prochnow (Das Boot, The English Patient); and Aerofilms will release Dreamers, about a group of disaffected thirtysomethings, directed by Jitka Rudolfová.

Zuzana Kirchnerová's Cinéfondation short Baba will finally be released in the Czech Republic November 19 as part of a double bill with The Second Act, from director Olmo Omerzu. Baba tells the short story of a teenage girl who is a reluctant caregiver to her invalid grandmother. The Second Act follows an unhappy couple on their belated honeymoon and features Nataša Burger (Medvidek, Up and Down). The films are distributed by the Association of Czech Film Clubs.

The same week Bontonfilm will release An Earthly Paradise for the Eyes, a drama set in the years following the 1968 Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. The film is directed by Irena Pavlásková (The Bitch's Diary) and stars Ondřej Vetchý (Broken Promise, Dark Blue World), among others.

On November 26, Falcon will release 3 Seasons in Hell [+see also:

, from director Tomáš Mašín. Inspired by the writings of celebrated Czech literary figure Egon Bondy, 3 Seasons in Hell takes place in post-war Czechoslovakia, where a pair of young libertines seek to escape the impending strictures of communism. The film stars Kryštof Hádek (Dark Blue World) and Karolina Gruszka in her film debut.
