Unmade Beds triumphs at Les Arcs

15/12/2009 - Presided by István Szabó, the jury at the 1st Les Arcs European Film Festival awarded the Crystal Arrow for Best Film to Alexis dos Santos’ UK production Unmade Beds [trailer] (see video interview), starring Belgian actress Deborah François.

The Jury Prize went to Serbian director Goran Paskaljevic’s Honeymoons (unveiled at Venice: see video interview and review) and the Special Jury Prize to Polish filmmaker Robert Glinski’s Piggies [trailer] (see news).

In the acting categories, Nina Ivanisin picked up Best Actress for her performance in Damjan Kozole’s Slovenian Girl [trailer] (see news) and Anton Shagin scooped Best Actor for his role in Russian film Hipsters.

Meanwhile, the Audience Award was presented to Cell 211 [trailer, film focus] by Spain’s Daniel Monzón (see video interview), which received great acclaim at Venice (see review).

Finally, from among the 20 European projects selected for the Co-production Village, Sofica La Banque Postale Image has decided to financially support the development of Wayfaring Strangers, which will be directed by Stephen Bradley and produced by France’s Chic Films and Ireland’s Treasure Entertainment. The film’s cast will include Niels Arestrup, Sylvie Testud, Michael Gambon and David Kross.
