On December 12, Bonton Film released You Cannot Escape Your Shadow [+see also:

film profile], the feature debut of director Lenka Kny about elderly couple Řehoř (Pavel Landovský) and Evženie (Jaroslava Adamová). After 60 years of marriage, Evženie approaches her granddaughter Katka (Helena Dvořáková), a lawyer, to help her divorce Řehoř. Katka tries to get to the bottom of her grandmother’s decision uncovering her family’s dramatic history.

Kny was inspired by her own family's history. “When you're 10, you find things in the attic which you don't understand, and so you leave them be, but when you're 30 or more, you remember them and start to turn them over in your mind,” she said.

Also on December 12, Palace Pictures released Twosome [+see also:

film profile] from director Jaroslav Fuit. The film follows a young couple whose relationship is in the doldrums. When their romantic adventure to Sweden goes wrong, they are joined by a third traveller, who brings unexpected consequences.

Fuit and his team shot the film on various locations in Scandinavia according to rules they set down in 2007 in their Greenway manifesto. The formal restrictions include, among others, a crew-member limit of 10 people and a ban on tripods and artificial lighting.

On December 21, Bontonfilm will release Kawasaki's Rose [+see also:

film profile] from Oscar-nominated team of director Jan Hřebejk and Petr Jarchovský. The film stars Martin Huba as a renowned scientist who is revealed to have collaborated with the secret police. “We see whether the allegations are justified and if everything happened the way it is presented,” Hřebejk said. “For me, this film resembles [his 2002 film] Divided We Fall in the sense that we follow the characters and alter our view of them as the plot advances and we gain a deeper understanding of the individual characters.”
