Scripted by the director, the film centres on 45-year-old David Pelame (Damiens), who is married (to Arbillot) with two children and lives in a lovely house in a smart suburb. David is a sensible, upright and hard-working lawyer, a pen-pusher. He feels his life is increasingly dull and lets it slip by, preferring to mope rather than take action to change things.

On Christmas eve, he discovers a suitcase full of cocaine and a telephone inundated with calls from clients. David thinks he has finally found the solution to livening up his life. But is it?

Borderline is produced by Nicolas Duval-Adassovsky, Bruno Chiche and Yann Zenou for Yume Quad Films. Its €4.5m budget includes pre-sales from Canal + and TPS, and €445,000 in backing from the Ile-de-France region, where the eight-week shoot will take place. Bac Films will handle French distribution.

Quad films is also managing post-production on Pascal Chaumeil’s Heartbreaker (see news), starring Romain Duris, Julie Ferrier, Vanessa Paradis and Damiens. The film will be released in French theatres by Universal on March 17.
