31/03/2010 - Two years after his WW2 blockbuster Flame & Citron [trailer], Ole Christian Madsen will start shooting Superclásico in April in Argentina. His seventh feature film for Nimbus Film stars Paprika Steen and Anders W. Berthelsen, as well as Argentine actor Sebastian Estavanez.
Based on Madsen’s original script written with Anders August (co-writer of Applause [trailer, film focus]), Superclásico is the story of an estranged husband who follows his football agent wife all the way to Argentina, where she has fallen in love with a football star.
Produced by Lars Bredo Rahbek and Signe Leick Jensen, the film was just awarded DKK5.8m (around €780,000) from the Danish Film Institute. The Match Factory, who has a long-standing relationship with Nimbus Film, is handling world sales.
Meanwhile, Nimbus production Submarino [trailer, film focus], directed by Thomas Vinterberg, last Thursday opened seventh in the local top ten for distributor Sandrew Metronome. Viking epic Valhalla Rising [trailer, film focus] by Nicolas Winding Refn is hitting local screens today, released by Scanbox.
