The need to boost financing for arthouse cinema and for film associations, which are important in the distribution of non-mainstream films, is one of the issues that emerged over the course of the forum Young Italian Cinema: How to help it?" held in Rome on March 25. Distribution – as emphasised by the 11 industry professionals who spoke – is furthermore a difficult moment for debut films.

The forum on the state of Italian cinema was held during the 6th Young Cinema Awards ceremony, which presented a selection of the top ten films of young Italian cinema distributed in 2009, of which seven were feature debuts.

film profile] was the film most voted by audiences. The award was presented by director Marco Risi to the film’s producer, Francesca Cima.

Best Young Actor and Actress went, respectively, to Libero de Rienzo for his turn in Marco Risi’s Fortapàsc [+see also:
