Duculot shoots debut feature in Corsica and Hainaut

by

On March 26, Pierre Duculot finished shooting the first part of his debut feature La Maison de Lucchese (“The House of Lucchese”) in Hainaut.

Strongly inspired by his two reference regions (Charleroi, where he was born, and Haute-Corse, where he often spends time as a programmer for the Lama Film Festival), Duculot decided to centre his debut feature on a young woman who feels an unusual attraction for a secluded house in the Corsican hills and , on impulse, leaves behind the straight life mapped out for her.

This debut feature also marks the first lead role for Belgian actress Christelle Cornil, who previously starred in Duculot’s two short films, and recently appeared in The War of the Misses [+see also:

. The latter film also featured Flemish actress Marijke Piroy, another member of the cast on La Maison de Lucchese.

The film also includes a fine role for François Vincentelli, a Belgian actor of Corsican origin, who has appeared a lot on French television, including the second season of Clara Sheller. The cast is completed by a few well-known faces from Belgian shorts (Jean-Jacques Rausin, Cédric Eeckhout), alongside Samir Guesmi and Marie Kremer in superb minor roles.

La Maison de Lucchese is produced by Need Productions (whose debut majority feature, Beyond the Steppes by Vanja d’Alcantara, is currently in post-production), and co-produced by France’s Perspective Films. The latter company was created in 2008 by Denis Delcampe (founding producer of Need), Isabelle Truc (Iota Production, Belgium), Pierre-André Thiébaud (PCT Production, Switzerland) and Isabelle Mathy (Pétrouchka Films, France).

The film has received backing from the Belgian French Community Film Centre, the Bruxellimage-Wallimage investment fund, the Tax Shelter fund and Corsica Region. MK2 is expected to handle French distribution and international sales.

The second leg of shooting will take place in Corsica from April 20-May 15.
