Icelandic focus at Czech Summer Film School

The Association of Czech Film Clubs, which organises the Summer Film School in the Czech city of Uherske Hradistě from July 23-August 1, has chosen to this year focus on Icelandic cinema with 39 films spanning from 1919 to 2009.

The mini-Icelandic festival will pay tribute to Fridrik Thór Fridriksson, considered the father of contemporary Icelandic cinema, by screening 13 of his films; and Dagur Kári, representative of the younger generation, with his three films Noi Albinoi, Dark Horse [+see also:

. Both directors will attend, along with Hrafn Gunnlaugsson, creator of the so-called Viking trilogy of the 1980s: When the Raven Flies, The Shade of the Raven and The White Viking.
