Mads Mikkelsen honoured in Munich
25/06/2010 - Danish star actor Mads Mikkelsen will receive a CineMerit Award at the Munich Film Festival, which opens today and closes on July 3.
The CineMerit Award is given to outstanding personalities in the international film community for their extraordinary contributions to motion pictures as an art form. Two of Mikkelsen’s films will screen at the festival: German thriller The Door [trailer] by Anno Saul and Nicolas Winding Refn’s Viking epic Valhalla Rising [trailer, film focus].
Besides vying for the Arri-Zeiss Award for Best Foreign Film (worth €50,000), the latter is one of 13 films selected in the International Programme, along with Danish prison drama R [trailer] by Tobias Lindholm and Michael Noer, the documentariesInto Eternity by Michael Madsen and The Red Chapel by Mads Brügger, and Swedish/Danish title Videocracy [trailer].
