Irish production goes into overdrive

It’s going to be a busy end to 2010 for the Irish film industry with five projects in production. Together, these films will contribute €9.5 million to the Irish economy.

Oscar nominated actress Glenn Close leads the cast of Rodrigo Garcia’s Albert Nobbs that also stars Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers and British actress Janet McTeer. Written by Close and John Banville (The Sea), the film is about a woman pretending to be a man in order to survive in conservative 19th century Ireland. The US/Ireland coproduction begins shooting in Ireland on December 13. Close, Bonnie Curtis, Julie Lynn and Ireland’s Alan Moloney (Intermission) are producing with funding from the Irish Film Board (IFB).
