Blair draws up Best Laid Plans
by Naman Ramachandran
02/12/2010 - Shooting is underway in Nottingham on award-winning director David Blair’s (Mystics) Best Laid Plans (working title).
Blair has won three BAFTAs and two Emmys for his work on the television series The Street and Takin' Over the Asylum. Best Laid Plans stars Stephen Graham (This Is England [trailer]), David O’Hara (The Kid), Maxine Peake ( Edge) and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Faster) and is written by Chris Green (Desperate Measures).
The film tells the story of Danny (Graham) and best friend Joseph (Akinnuoye-Agbaje) who are deeply loyal to one another thanks to a shared past. But when Danny is unable to repay his mounting debts to violent underworld boss Curtis (O’Hara), a devastating series of events unfolds that will test the friends’ bonds of love and loyalty to the limit. The story is loosely inspired by John Steinbeck’s classic novel Of Mice and Men.
Producers are Michael Knowles and Stacey Murray for Made Up North Productions (A Boy Called Dad [trailer]) and Brad Moore for Moli Films (The American Friend). The film is co-financed by EM Media and AV Pictures, who will also act as worldwide sales agent.
Shooting will continue in Nottingham and the East Midlands for four weeks.
