Winterbottom’s troubles

- Pathé Pictures pulls out of co-financing deal on Winterbottom’s Code 46 & director has trouble finding right title for follow-up to 24-Hour Party People

Just after Pathé Pictures, took out a trade advertisement to announce their sales arm, Pathé International were to handle the international sales of Michael Winterbottom's new project, Code 46, the UK subsidiary of the French group has withdrawn from financing this film, according to trade publication, “Variety”.
Principal photography was due to start on this futuristic thriller set in America within weeks, but because of a dispute between Pathé Pictures executives and the film’s producer, Andrew Eaton from Revolution Films, Code 46 now has to look elsewhere for co-financing.
Meanwhile Winterbottom was experiencing another problem with his new film, the follow-up to his high profile 24 Hour Party People: he just couldn’t find a decent title for this story about two Afghan refugees’ clandestine attempt to reach Britain from Europe. After initially deciding on The Silk Road, Wintebottom then chose the rather improbable M1187511, after the reference number that the British Home Office gives the two refugees. Now, with two weeks to go until the film’s world premiere at the RLFF (Regus London Film Festival), Winterbottom has finally settled for In This World.
In This World was shot on digital video (DV) and is sold internationally by Civilian Content’s sales arm, The Works.
