AWARDS France

Audiences prefer Balseros

by

Audiences have chosen to award Balseros. The eighth edition of ´Rencontres internationales de cinéma de Paris‘, which closed this weekend, awarded the Spanish documentary Balseros by Carlos Bosch and Joseph Ma Domènech, as well as How to Draw a Bunny by American film maker John Walters.
The award, which was incremented by a 15 thousand-euro contribution by Forum des images and the City of Paris, as well as a three-thousand-euro contribution by the GAN foundation for cinema, was presented by British actor Tim Roth. This official recognition may well facilitate finding a distributor for Balseros, which narrates the 1994 escape of a group of Cuban refugees who board a boat to Florida.
The Press Award was attributed to Dancing, the film debut of Frenchmen Patrick Mario Bernard, Pierre Trividic, and Xavier Brillat.
