A Danish triumph in New York

The Danes have won their first-ever Emmy. Yesterday in New York, the Best Drama Emmy - the TV equivalent of the Oscars - went to rank outsider, Rejseholdet.
"It’s fantastic. Just the idea of being nominated for an Emmy made us feel very proud; winning the prize has been a great surprise," commented Denmark’s Radio (DR) press office to Danish daily newspaper, “Politiken”. The two stars of Rejseholdet, Charlotte Fich and Mads Mikkelsen were just as surprised and delighted. The Danes saw off some heavy competition from fellow nominees from Australia, Holland and the UK and the award was picked up by producer Sven Clausen and screenwriter Peter Thorsboe.
