The "Louis Delluc" finalists

The nine finalists for this year's Lousi Delluc were announced on Friday 29 November. Set up in memory of one of France’s pre-eminent cinemeates, it is an annual award that goes to the year's best French film: this year's Delluc will be presented on 11 December at Fouquet’s in Paris.
Presided over by Gilles Jacob, the president of the Cannes Film Festival, the Delluc jury sifted the first selection of filmsmade on 29 October to the nine finalists. Three features selected at that time: L’adversaire by Nicole Garcia, Etre et Avoir by Nicolas Philibert and Mischka by Jean-François Stévenin, were joined by six more. They are La chatte à deux têtes by, Lundi mattin by Otar Iosseliani, Les naufrages de la D 17René by Alain Cavalier, Le stade de Wimbledon by Matheiu Amalric and Vendredi Soir by Claire Denis.
Despite passing the first selection, the following three were eliminated: Costa-Gavras’ Amen, Michel Blanc’s Embrassez qui vous voudrez and François Ozon’s 8 Women.
Of the directors competing this year only Alain Cavalier and Otar Iosseliani have already won the Delluc once, respectively in 1980 forh Un étrange voyage and in 1990 for Adieu le plancher des vaches. To date, only Louis Malle, Michel Deville and Claude Sautet have won twice.
