Iben Hjejle and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, two of Denmark’s most internationally well known actors have joined the cast of Jesper W. Nielsen’s forthcoming feature, Loftet (Air). Audiences will recall seeing Hjejle in Stephen Frears’ High Fidelity and Coster-Waldau in Michael Apted’s Enigma and Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down. Loftet is scheduled to go into production this week until the end of February. The screenplay was written by Nielsen with Anker Li and is based on the true story of a man called Svend (played by Waldau) who fights to save his elderly parents’ marriage even though they made his life virtually unliveable. It is only after Svend meets Lizzie (played by Hjejle), that he realises the extent to which the atmosphere of hatred and jealousy that permeates his family life has influenced him.
The film is produced by Peter Bech for Angel Film Productions and by Sweden's Illusion Film and is scheduled for release in August 2004.
