Belle du seigneur adaptation shooting in Luxembourg

An adaptation of novelist Albert Cohen’s Belle du seigneur is currently in front of the cameras in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The directorial debut of Glenio Bondi has had a long road to production with various cast switches and it is finally Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers who has taken on the role of Solal, a United Nations diplomat who falls in love with a woman, Ariane (Natalia Vodianova), in Geneva in the 1930s.

Besides Rhys Meyers (The Tudors, Match Point [+see also:

) and Vodianova, a model-turned-actress who’s been the face of Guerlain and starred as Medusa in the recent blockbuster The Clash of the Titans, the period romance will also benefit from the presence of English songstress and actress Marianne Faithfull (Irina Palm [+see also:

The screenplay was written by the director, himself a former U.N. diplomat representing Brazil, and Oscar-nominated writers Vincenzo Cerami (La vita è bella) and James Dearden (Fatal Attraction).

The film, backed by the Luxembourg Film Fund, is produced by Bob Bellion and Jimmy de Brabant for Delux Productions and Thierry de Navacelle for French outfit TNVO.
