Co-scripted by the director and his usual collaborator Pierre Chosson, the film tells the story of a shipyard and its manager (Auteuil). The bank suddenly decides to stop financing the company and the boss has two months to save the business whilst having to deal with a strike. His battle will take him as far as Russia where a lucky encounter gives him renewed fortitude.

Produced by Jean-Baptiste Dupont and Cyril Colbeau-Justin for LGM Cinéma (working with Maillol again afterRivals and with Auteuil after Department 36 and MR73), Blood From a Stone has co-production support from France 3 Cinéma, and pre-acquisitions from Canal + and CinéCinéma.

Shooting will take place in January and February in Seyne-sur-Mer, in Paris and finally Kiev. Wild Bunch will release the film in French theatres and manage international sales.

In theatres, LGM Cinéma currently has Fred Cavayé’s Point Blank (575,000 admissions in 19 days); and in post-production Thierry Klifa’s His Mother’s Eyes (to be released by Mars Distribution on March 30, 2011) and Olivier Marchal’s Les Lyonnais (“Lyon Inhabitants”, to be released by Gaumont on November 30, 2011). The company’s slate also includes Florent Emilio Siri’s Cloclo, a biopic about singer Claude François which will be filmed in spring 2011 and star Jérémie Renier.
