LevelK adopts Connie Nielsen’s kid movie Tine Klint’s international sales outfit LevelK has just picked up Lost in Africa [+see also:

, starring Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) and Lars Mikkelsen. Vibeke Muasya’s directorial debut was produced by Vibeke Windeløv (Breaking the Waves) with Karoline Leth for SF Film Denmark.

In the adventure drama, Nielsen plays a Danish mother who travels to Kenya with her adopted black son. The 11-year-old Simon boy gets lost in one of the city’s slum and tries to get back to his mother with the help of some local kids. The film was co-produced with Sweden’s S/S Fladen.

Lost in Africa was released in Denmark last October. According to Klint, Danish critics were impressed by the scope of the film, which “simultaneously opens the world to children and explores the more intricate dynamics of friendship and belonging.” SF holds Scandinavian rights.

LevelK will screen Lost in Africa at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin. Other titles handled by the Copenhagen and New York-based sales company include Suicide Room [+see also:
