Loose Cannons wins Bari BIF&ST

31/01/2011 - Ferzan Ozpetek’s Loose Cannons [trailer] swept up the second edition of Bari’s BIF&ST, winning five awards: Best Director, Screenplay and Film Story (for Ozpetek and Ivan Cotroneo), Actress (Nicole Grimaudo), and Supporting Actress (Ilaria Occhini).
The international jury presided over by Jean Roy and comprising Greta Scacchi, Peter Schneider, Jean Sorel and Emanuel Ungaro gave the Best Actor nod to Elio Germano, for his turn in Daniele Luchetti’s Our Life [trailer]; Best Score to Carlo Virzì for his brother Paolo’s The First Beautiful Thing [trailer]; Marco Sgorbati and Gian Paolo Conti Best Cinematography for their work on Marco Bellocchio’s Sorelle Mai [trailer]; and Best Editing to Benni Atria and Maurizio Grillo for The Four Times [trailer, film focus] by Michelangelo Frammartino; while Pupi Avati’s Una sconfinata giovinezza [trailer] won Best Production Design (Giuliano Pennuti) and Best Costumes (Stefania Consaga and Maria Fassari).
The public jury of 50 spectators, presided over by Marie Delphine Bonada, awarded producers Gregorio Paonessa and Marta Donzelli for Michelangelo Frammartino’s The Four Times and Giuseppe Battiston of Carlo Mazzacurati’s The Passion [trailer] Best Supporting Actor.
