Film courses for children

In an interview with German daily, “Der Welt”, the German minister for culture, Christina Weiss said she was in favour of schools organising lessons on cinema, even for the youngest pupils. “It is important for children to realise that the pictures they see are a constructed reality. Films are not reality and it is important that children realise that at a young age with help and guidance,” said the independent politician, who added that aesthetic education is also very important. “Children need to develop a playful distance from the medium of film.”
