Sweden will also make a showing at the Semaine de la Critique. Today two short subjects were shown, Möte Med Ondskan by Reza Parsa, and Malcolm by Baker Karim, both of which arrived on the Croisette thanks to the support of the Swedish Film Institute. Neither of the two authors are native Swedes: Reza Parsa is originally from Iran, while Baker Karim was born in Kampala in Uganda and then attended the Otis College of Arts in Los Angeles. Möte Med Ondskan narrates the last twelve minutes in the life of a terrorist with a long, agonizing real time sequence. Malcolm, instead, tells of the physical and psychological deterioration that an illegal alien suffers as a result of his living conditions, and which eventually costs him the love of his son.
