by Camillo de Marco
12/02/2011 - Mario Martone’s We Believed [trailer, film focus] will be distributed in Australia, Gabriele Salvatores’ Happy Family [trailer] in Brazil, Stefano Incerti’s Gorbaciof [trailer, film focus] in Scandinavia and Renzo Martinelli’s Barbarossa [trailer] will be seen in the UK. These are the first international deals on the Italian films being handled by RAI Trade just two days into the European Film Market at the Berlinale.
Says RAI Trade Managing Director Carlo Nardello: "The start to this festival proves once more our sales competitiveness in terms of Italian product on the international market. Our slate includes films that have great stories, high budgets, are in English, and so forth ".
In Berlin, a new important collaboration with distributors in Australia and New Zealand was struck. Ten Italian films will be shown there in the upcoming months, including: We Believed, Gorbaciof, Malavoglia, Dark Love [trailer], 18 Years Later [trailer], I Am With You [trailer], Una sconfinata giovinezza [trailer], Le cose che restano, Il primo incarico [trailer] and La scomparsa di Patò [trailer].
Buyers and broadcasters are evaluating and have begun negotiations on We Believed, which Martone premiered at Venice 2010 and continues to be one of the most sought-after local title at international festivals. It will next play Tokyo, New Delhi, London and CHIna.
