The 88-year-old director (who won a Special Award at Cannes in 2009 with his previous work Wild Grass [trailer]) has put together a stellar cast including Mathieu Amalric (On Tour [trailer, film focus] and soon to be seen in Chicken with Plums), Lambert Wilson (Of Gods and Men [trailer, film focus]), Michel Piccoli (We Have a Pope [trailer, film focus]), Anne Consigny (Rapt [trailer]), his trusty collaborator Sabine Azéma, Hippolyte Girardot, Pierre Arditi, Anny Duperey and Denis Podalydès. Also on board the project are Andrzej Seweryn, Michel Robin, Michel Vuillermoz Jean-Noël Brouté Gérard Lartigau and Jean-Chrétien Sibertin-Blanc.
Scripted by Laurent Herbiet and Alex Réval, the film is set in a playwright’s sumptuous old mansion in a little village in central France. In the large drawing room, the butler welcomes some friends whom the playwright, now deceased, asked to be summoned for the reading of his will and who all responded to the request.
These 13 actors previously performed in his plays, including one in particular who was considered outstanding in her time. But is she still?
