Michael heads Les Films du Losange’s line-up

28/04/2011 - With Austrian director Markus Schleinzer’s debut feature Michael [trailer] (photo), selected in official competition at the 64th Cannes Film Festival (May 11-22, 2011), French international seller Les Films du Losange will have a major asset at the Film Market.
Agathe Valentin, head of international sales at the company headed by Margaret Menegoz, said: "Michael is a very strong film from a psychological point of view. Markus Schleinzer, who is Michael Haneke’s casting assistant, was very surprised by the number of child disappearances and decided to look into this issue. But his approach to the subject is not at all sensationalist and his directing is very rigorous. Its selection in competition at Cannes is obviously good news: fewer than ten debut features have had this chance over the last decade. It really marks the birth of a director".
Produced by Nikolaus Geyrhalter Filmproduktion, Michael traces the last five months of the unintentional cohabitation between a 10-year-old child and a 35-year-old man.
On the Croisette, the company will also continue pre-sales for several titles in post-production, including Michael Haneke’s Love (see news); Jean-Marc Moutout’s French/Belgian co-production Early One Morning (see news ); Nicolas Klotz’s Lovers (see news); Mikael Buch’s Let My People Go!
