Wild Bunch showcases titles by Maïwenn and Dardenne brothers

02/05/2011 - With six films, including two in official competition, in the different selections at the 64th Cannes Film Festival (May 11-22, 2011), French company Wild Bunch has once again emerged as one of the surest bets at the upcoming Film Market, where it will present a stellar line-up of 45 titles (see news about forthcoming films).
In the top Cannes showcase, the race for the Palme d’Or (see news), Vincent Maraval’s team will be hoping for success with French director Maïwenn’s surprise title Poliss [trailer, film focus] (see news - photo). The film, which will be released in France on October 19 by Mars Films, has also been acquired for Spain, German-speaking Europe, Benelux, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Switzerland.
Wild Bunch will also negotiate sales for another title in competition: Belgian/French/Italian co-production The Kid With a Bike [trailer, film focus] (see news) by brothers Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne. Set to be launched by Diaphana in French theatres on May 18, the feature has been pre-bought by at least 20 territories including, in Europe, the Baltic countries, Spain, Switzerland, Benelux, Greece, Portugal, Romania, Turkey, the CIS countries, German-speaking Europe and the former Yugoslavia.
In the official selection, Wild Bunch will be pinning its hopes on French director Michel Hazanavicius’s The Artist [trailer, film focus] (see news), out of competition; and a special screening of Brit director Michael Radford’s documentary Michel Petrucciani, co-produced by France, Germany and Italy.
Wild Bunch will also sell two titles presented out of competition in International Critics’ Week: French helmer Valérie Donzelli’s Declaration of War [trailer] (see
Finally, there will be three premieres among the market screenings: Christophe Ruggia’s In the Turmoil (see news), Agnès Merlet’s French/Irish/Swedish co-production Hideaways [trailer] (see news), and Manual of Love 3 [trailer] by Italy’s Giovanni Veronesi.
