Art Film Fest forum offers promotional advice

The 19th Art Film Fest International Film Festival will host two workshops designed to help filmmakers polish their script-development and promotional skills.

The first opportunity, the Midpoint: Central European Script Center, will hold its first workshop of 2011 at the festival June 17–25. Scriptwriter Jean-Claude Carrière will present a master class for participants, introducing and discussing several of his films.

The second opportunity is a forum June 23–24 intended to coach Slovak filmmakers on promotion, co-production, festival presentation and sales of their films on the international market. The forum will include presentations by international experts and a panel of upcoming Slovak feature films.

Dutch producer Raymond van der Kaaij will discuss creative production of low-budget films and their path to international festivals.

French producer Jean-Luc Ormières will present his VoD platform UniversCiné.

German script editor and consultant Gabriele Brunnenmayer and Martina Bleis of the Berlinale Coproduction Market and Connecting Cottbus will give tips on participating international co-production markets.

Florian Weghorn, co-director of Berlin's Generation section, and Marzena Moskal, member of member of the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs selection committee, will offer suggestions on festival strategies.

Selected producers will be able to present their projects in individual meeting with the forum experts.

The forum is organized by Character–Film Development Association, the Slovak Film Institute and Art Film Fest with the support of the Slovak Audiovisual Fund.

The 19th Art Film Fest International Film Festival will take place June 17–25 in Trenčianske Teplice and Trenčín, Slovakia.
