Grave Decisions screenwriter shoots directorial debut

Christian Lerch, who co-wrote Marcus H. Rosenmüller’s wonderful 2006 debut feature Grave Decisions [+see also:

(which brought the director fame by grossing over €10m at the box office, as well as winning many awards and selling well abroad), has decided to get behind the camera for the comedy Was Weg Is, Is Weg.

Currently shooting in and around the Bavarian town of Kraiburg am Inn, the film tells the story of Lukas and is meant to be set in the 1980s. Weary of provincial life, this young man wants to go off to discover the world with Greenpeace on the Rainbow Warrior, but his plans are thwarted when he meets a woman and makes an unexpected discovery.

Cast in the lead role is young actor Florian Brückner, who will soon grace screens as Richelieu’s secretary in Paul W. S. Anderson’s mega-production The Three Musketeers. Here he plays opposite his brother Maximilian (as he did in Rosenmüller’s Räuber Kneißl, also written by Lerch), Jürgen Tonkel (Lessons of a Dream [+see also:

) and Marie Leuenberger (soon to be seen in Dreiviertelmond).

Shooting on Was Weg Is, Is Weg will continue until June 25. The film is produced by Anatol Nitschke for deutschfilm and Helge Sasse for Senator. The latter will also release it on German screens next year.
