Tarantula launches two films in September

The Luxembourg branch of the Belgo-Luxembourg production company Tarantula has launched a daughter company, Tarantula Distribution. The new outfit will distribute the films that Tarantula has produced or co-produced in the Grand-Duchy, starting with two films next month.

Donato Rotunno and Emilie Lacourt’s company will first distribute Jean-Baptiste Léonetti’s first feature, Carré Blanc [+see also:

[photo], on September 9. The film stars Julie Gayet and Sami Bouajila as two orphans who grow up together, and will be released in France during the same week andhave its international premiere at the Toronto Film Festival later in the month.

The second release is scheduled for September 23: She’s Not Crying, She’s Singing [+see also:

, the debut feature of Belgian director Philippe de Pierpont. The film, about a young woman coming to terms with the difficult relationship she has with her father, will have its international premiere at the Montréal World Film Festival, which starts today, before moving to festivals in Namur and Mannheim-Heidelberg.

, a period comedy from Tanya Wexler about the invention of the vibrator, starring Hugh Dancy and Maggie Gyllenhaal, was co-produced by Delux Productions. It will premiere in Toronto, just like the violent French thriller Sleepless Night [+see also:

from director Frédéric Jardin, which has Paul Thiltges Distributions at the production helm. The latter stars Tomer Sisley as a father who tries to rescue his kidnapped son.
