) has commenced principal photography on his next feature What Richard Did, from a script by Malcolm Campbell (Sorted).

The contemporary Dublin-set tale follows a group of privileged teenagers the summer after they leave school with the focus being on sports star Richard whose life is irrevocably changed after an act of violence. The film is loosely based on award-winning Irish author Kevin Power’s 2008 novel Bad Day at Blackrock.

The ensemble cast includes young Irish actors including Jack Reynor, Sam Keeley and Roisin Murphy in addition to established talent including Lorraine Pilkington (In A Day) and Danish actor Lars Mikkelsen (Truth About Men [+see also:

The film will shoot in and around Dublin and Wicklow for 5 weeks and is backed by the Irish Film Board and being produced by Ed Guiney and executive produced by Andrew Lowe both of Element Pictures (The Guard [+see also:

Element Pictures Distribution will distribute the film in Ireland in 2012.
