Stories and emotions in 120 seconds: Catania’s Trailers FilmFest is back

by

It’s the final device to be prepared during the production of a film, but the first to reach the public, and is therefore vital - it is to the art of the trailer, those 120 seconds that condense the story of a film, communicating its style and emotions, that the Trailers FilmFest is dedicated, and takes place in Catania from September 28 to October 1.

In its ninth edition, this Sicilian event, unique in Europe in honouring trailers and their distribution companies, presents a rich and multiform programme. Starting with the competition, there are three sections - Italy, Europe and World - that will present ten films each, selected from more than 350 presentations of films that were released between August 15, 2010 and August 15, 2011.

) as its President. But the public too will play a part - by voting on the website www.trailersfilmfest.com, punters can decide the Best Trailer of the season from the 30 selected.

While it is true that the trailer is the main instrument of film promotion, the poster is no lessimportant: the workshop on Applied creativity: from film to poster in three days, organised in the framework of the TrailersLab, will allow participants to work on creating a poster for a soon-to-be-released Medusa film . Moreover, there are several meetings with the public - with trailer craftsman Miro Grisanti, the creator of more than a thousand trailers from 1966 onwards (including those for Visconti’s The Damned and Bertolucci’s The Conformist); with Federico Moccia (who in 2012 will return to the big screen with Amori e tradimenti) on the route from book to film; with journalist Laura Delli Colli on the relationship between cinema andcuisine; with the managers of Fandango who will talk about the original and efficient experience of launching the film Qualunquemente.

Also worth noting is the Pitch trailer section, which gives young authors the opportunity of presenting their own film ideas to producers, co-producers and distributors. Finally, in the framework of TrailersPremière, the comedy Baciato dalla fortuna [+see also:
