EEFA: third Management of Film Production Workshop held in Kiev

The EEFA (East European Film Alliance) Training Network has organized the third workshop of this year (Kiev, October 27-31), Management of Film Production Workshop in partnership with the Molodist International Film Festival.

After two workshops dedicated to the craft of scriptwriting for seven documentary and eight fiction features from European and Non-European countries, time came for the producers of these fifteen projects to benefit from the teachings of a group of experts, including Head of Studies Catherine Buresi (co-director of the Berlinale European Film Market), Content Expert Jacques Laurent (co-founder of Télévision Du Monde and Capnetwork Belgium), and Production Expert Patrice Vivancos (MEDIA Programme).

This session of workshops was the first one to bring together all the projects participating at EEFA Training Network this year and focused on working with international budget models for the developing of feasible financing plans and efficient, realistic estimating of production budgets. The trainers interacted with the participating producers both in group sessions and in one to one meetings, and discussed key aspects of film production such as the complexity of financing, the multiplicity of funds and the necessity for the producers to have the right information and tools for accessing the sources of finances, possibilities to access funds, networking at markets and co-production meetings, successful pitching.

Apart from the projects currently in training, Romania was chosen to organize a case study viewing with internationally awarded films produced by an EEFA 2010 graduate producer Daniel Badea (Temple Film). Daniel Badea graduated EEFA 2010 programme with the film Little Spartan, directed by Dragos Iuga.

Supported by the Media Mundus programme, EEFA is a consortium of eleven countries coordinated by the Romanian Film Sector and has for 2011 the following partners: Ukraine, Moldova, Croatia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
