garnered him a nomination for Best Director at the 24th European Film Awards – and his apocalyptic drama is also nominated in six other categories including Best Film, Screenplay, Cinematography, Editing, Production Design and two nominations for Best Actress (Kirsten Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg).

Another two Scandinavian films are competing for Best European Film: Danish director Susanne Bier’s Golden Globe and Oscar winner, In a Better World [+see also:

This year’s European Film Awards will return to Berlin for a star-studded ceremony under the 30m dome of The Tempodrom near Potsdamer Platz, with 1,000 guests – winners, nominees and academy members – welcomed by German comedian-actress Anke Engelke and hosted by Academy President Wim Wenders, the German director.
