is the winning film of the 14th edition of "Cinema! Italia!", the event organised by the association Made in Italy, with the contribution of the Ministry for Cultural Goods and Activities, of the ICE (Institute for External Trade) and the support of the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institutes in Germany. The event has been going on for three months, starting from September, in twenty seven German cities, including all the main cities, with the participation in some places of directors and actors from the selected films.

In the course of the various public screenings a vote slip was handed out which viewers could use to express their appreciation of the film seen. This was also a way to offer German distributors a concrete opportunity to assess viewers' interest towards the different titles and The First Beautiful Thing turned out as the film with the highest consensus.

The closing of the event will take place on Saturday, December 10, in Berlin, at the Babylon cinema, an important and prestigious art-house cinema in the German capital. But the most important award for Paolo Virzì's film produced by Motorino Amaranto, Medusa Film and Indiana Production is the real possibility of a commercial release in Germany. In fact, thanks to the viewers' ratings, distribution company Kairos has already started negotiations to buy the film.
